CSFC are delighted to announce the appointments of our junior coaches for 2026! With a mix of new and returning faces, we are excited to watch the rapid growth and development of our teams with this group at the helm. With many returning for a consecutive season, it will be great to see the groups stick together and go bigger and better next year! We are also proud to announce that Mira Diab and Caitlyn Volpe will be joining the U16 Girls coaching team as assistant coaches. Both Mira and Caitlyn are current U18 players and will transition into the senior playing group in 2026, having already gained experience at that level alongside their years of Western Jets experience. They are great role models for our junior girls, setting exceptional standards on and off the field and have both won multiple premierships at the Lakers at both U18 and senior levels. HE’S BACK! One of our most decorated Laker juniors has returned home after applying his craft in the EDFL Premier Division over the past couple of years. A senior best and fairest winner at East Keilor, Zen is a highly skilled midfielder who played all of his junior football at the Lakers and will complement our existing squad well. SENIOR WOMEN COACHING ANNOUNCEMENTS We are excited to share that 2025 premiership coach Alex O’Shea will continue in her role as the Senior Women’s head coach for 2026! Also off the back of premiership success at U18 level, Alex will be joined by Mick Gerada, who will take on the role as senior assistant. To round out the team, Gus Leon will once again lead the Women’s Reserves side after leading them to a 2025 finals appearance in the EDFL Reserves competition. With so much depth and experience between the team, we are eager for them to continue growing our successful women’s program and excited to see where 2026 takes them. It was a proud night for the Lakers at the WFNL Senior Presentation evening, with three of our volunteers recognised for their outstanding contributions to our club. 🌟 Alex O’Shea - Female Coach of the Year 🌟 Nadine Oborne - Netball Coordinator of the Year 🌟 Shaun Rainer - Club Official of the Year (Lindsay Patching Award) It was great to celebrate you all on the evening and thank you for everything you do to keep our club running. It goes without saying that your awards are great recognition for years of hard work within our football and netball programs, not just for 2025. Jacinta Kondis was also presented as the WFNL Senior Women’s leading goal scorer for the year, with 59 goals to her name for the home and away season. CSFC are excited to announce our U18 head coaches for the 2026 season, with Zen Christofi continuing as the head coach for the boys and Scott Melrose returning to coaching at the Lakers to lead our girls. Zen is a familiar face at the Lakers, having coached a number of junior teams throughout his time with us. We are excited to see him continue working with our developing group as they build towards some more success. While Scott is a newer face around the club in recent years, he made an immediate impact to our junior girls program, having coached our U16 girls to a grand final in 2024. We are excited to see him continue his journey with this group of girls. We would also like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank Isabella Seychell for her service as U18 Girls coach the past couple of years. Issy has been instrumental in helping our girls transition into senior footballers, as well as supporting the development of many at representative levels. After leading our girls to back-to-back premierships, Issy has decided to take a well deserved break from coaching.
